MISSION

The mission of the Finance Department is to safeguard and administer financial resources that provide quality services and promote economic development as well as maintain infrastructure improvements to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens of Gary.

The Controller oversees payroll services, accounts payable, capital projects, grants, city operations, the police and fire plans, the Gary Sanitary District (GSD), and the Storm/Wastewater Management Program. The Controller also prepares the City budget, issues licenses, invests City funds, compiles accounting data to prepare annual financial reports, and is responsible for the annual audit report.
